# Events workspace

Events in Footlight CMS are [entities](/footlight-cms-guide/introducing-footlight-cms/understanding-entities.md) that are uniquely identifiable and machine readable.

In the **Events** list, current and upcoming events are displayed by default. View, add, edit and publish events in the Events workspace.

**Note:** If you are a member of more than one Footlight calendar, select the one you want to view from the calendar list dropdown in the left navigation.

## Events list

The list view displays key details about events and provides tools, based on your user role, for adding, publishing, duplicating and managing events.

### Search and filter events

* **Search bar**—Find and display events by title, event type, place, audience type or keyword.
* **Sort by**—Select how you want to sort the list: by **Name**, **Date created**, **Date modified**, or **Event date**. Event date is selected by default.
* **Filters**—Apply individually or combine to filter the list of events. Select **Clear** to remove all filters.

### Explore events

* **Scan key details**—The left side displays the thumbnail image, title, location, date information, and tags for canceled or postponed events. The right side displays publication status (published, draft, or pending review), event creator, user who last updated the event, and a link to same event in Artsdata, if available. Ten events are listed per page.
* **View more details**—Select an event to open a read-only view of its details. All users can view the read-only version of an event.

### Download reports and export events

Only Admins can download event reports and export events to different data models.

**To download a report:**

1. In **Events**, select the vertical ellipsis ( ⋮ ) next to **+ Event** to open the More Actions menu.
2. Select **Download report**.
3. In the **Download report** popup, select a date range. Select options if you want to add additional details to the standard report.
4. Click **Generate**, then **Download**. The report is automatically downloaded as a .csv file to your device.

**To export events to another data model:**

1. In **Events**, select the vertical ellipsis ( ⋮ ) next to **+ Event** to open the More Actions menu.
2. Select **Export data**.
3. In the **Export events** popup, select your data model and optionally include past events.
4. Click **Export**. The events are exported in .jsonld and automatically downloaded to your device.

### More actions for events

Use the More Actions menu to the right of an event to perform common and specialized tasks. Not all actions are available to all users.

**To select an action:**

1. In **Events**, find the event you want to modify, select the vertical ellipsis ( ⋮ ) next to the event to open the More Actions menu.
2. Select the action you want to do.

Actions include:

* [Duplicating an event](/footlight-cms-guide/events-workspace/duplicating-events.md).
* [Copying structured data](/footlight-cms-guide/events-workspace/copying-structured-data.md) for a website.
* [Publishing and un-publishing](/footlight-cms-guide/events-workspace/publishing-events.md) events.
* [Featuring events](/footlight-cms-guide/events-workspace/featuring-events.md).
* Deleting events.

The ability to publish, delete and feature events is defined by your user role:

* Contributors: Publishing, un-publishing, and deleting your own event.
* Editors: Publishing, un-publishing and deleting any event.
* Admins: Publishing, un-publishing, deleting and featuring any event.

**Note**: Guests cannot publish events. Instead, they send their events for review from the Event editor.

**To delete an event:**

1. In **Events**, find the event you want to modify, select the vertical ellipsis ( ⋮ ) next to the event, and then select **Delete event**.
2. In the warning message that appears, select **OK** to confirm deletion.

**Note:** Deleting an event can only be done from the More Actions menu.
