Organizations in Footlight and Artsdata.ca are that are uniquely identifiable and machine readable. This means organization details only have to be added once. The organization is then available for reuse anywhere you need it.

When you need to add an organization to an event in the Footlight CMS, you can retrieve it from Artsdata.ca without having to reenter the details, or, if it doesn't exist, create it from scratch.

Because Footlight and Artsdata are connected, organizations in the Footlight CMS can be linked to their equivalents in Artsdata.ca (or added as new organizations in Artsdata). When you add enriching information to an organization in Footlight, it can be made available for reuse by the larger Artsdata community.

View, add and edit Organizations details in the Organization workspace.

To add an organization:

  1. In the left navigation, Click Organizations to go to the Organizations workspace.

  2. Click the + Organization button. TIP: Before adding the organization, search your organization list to make sure you don't already have it.

  3. In New Organization, Enter the Organization name in the Linked data field. If the organization (name) already exists in Artsdata.ca or in Footlight, it will be displayed in the dropdown.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • If the right organization is listed, select it.

    • If the organization is not listed, click + Create at the bottom of the list. The organization details view opens.

  5. Fill in the details and click Save.
